Patty Chikamba Reaches the 1,000-Point Milestone at UIndy
By Gus Chikamba – Head Trainer at Elevate Three Basketball Training skill lab.
Reaching 1,000 career points is a milestone that represents far more than scoring ability. It reflects years of discipline, perseverance, commitment to continuous growth and a strong support system from family, teammates, trainers and coaches.
Elevate Three Basketball Training proudly recognizes Patty Chikamba for achieving this remarkable accomplishment during her collegiate career at the Division 2 University of Indianapolis, a moment that highlights the dedication she has shown throughout her basketball journey.
From Indianapolis Gyms to Collegiate Success
Patty’s journey toward this milestone began in Indianapolis, where she developed her basketball foundation and competitive edge at both Covenant Christian High School (CCHS) and University High School.
Throughout her high school career, Patty established herself as a dynamic guard known for her defensive intensity, downhill attacking ability, and overall impact on both ends of the floor. Coaches consistently recognized her work ethic, leadership qualities, and ability to compete in key moments.
“When I met Patty as a freshman in high school, my first thought was ‘What a joyful young lady.’ Patty radiates kindness and joy, and it’s hard to miss that the first time you meet her. But then you see her on the basketball court, and she turns into a fierce competitor.
While Patty did not play varsity right away as a freshman, she worked hard to earn a starting spot by her sophomore year. That opportunity was earned primarily because of her defense and basketball IQ. Let’s just say she didn’t always have as confident of a shot or handle the ball the way she does now.
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a player develop and grow as much as she has. Patty’s work ethic is unmatched, and watching her earn a spot on UIndy’s basketball team was a feat in itself. Now scoring her 1,000th point as a Greyhound — wow.
I wish more athletes had her mentality. Patty never complains and her mindset is tough. If she puts her mind to it, she accomplishes it. I am so proud to have been her coach, even if it was just a small portion of her journey. Congratulations Patty. Your accomplishment is more than deserved.”
— Coach Amanda Brown/Shultz
Her high school experience helped shape the mindset that would later define her collegiate career — resilience, coachability, and a relentless drive to improve.

“Super proud of Patty. She is a hard worker, tremendous athlete, and a great teammate. More importantly, she is an amazing human being.”
— Coach Mark Mitchell

A Defining Moment at the University of Indianapolis
At the University of Indianapolis, Patty continued to develop into one of the program’s impactful guards. Over the course of her collegiate career, she steadily evolved from a developing young player into a consistent contributor in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).
That growth culminated in a special moment during UIndy’s home matchup against McKendree on a Thursday night, when Patty reached the 1,000-point milestone.
Late in the fourth quarter, Patty drove confidently to the basket and finished with a layup — scoring her 1,000th career point in front of the home crowd.
It was a fitting moment for a player known for attacking the paint, playing with toughness, and stepping up in key moments.
“Reaching 1,000 points is an incredible milestone, and it reflects the dedication Patty brings every single day. The growth I’ve witnessed in her over the last two seasons, both on the court and as a teammate, has been special. She’s just getting started, and I’m excited to see her thrive in what’s ahead.”
— Coach Jama Sharp
Her achievement reflects years of consistent effort, development, and commitment to excellence, placing her among a select group of athletes to reach this milestone at the collegiate level.
More Than a Statistical Milestone
For Patty, reaching 1,000 points represents more than numbers on a stat sheet. It reflects the countless hours spent training, the support of coaches and family, and the dedication required to grow as both an athlete and a person.
Milestones like this serve as inspiration for younger athletes across the Indianapolis basketball community, demonstrating what is possible through perseverance and belief in the process.

The City League
One of our own, Patty Chikamba, showed exactly what it means to ELEVATE. She dominated in Circle City Talk’s first win Thursday night — dropping 40 points on a blistering 70% shooting from the field! Patty also snatched 11 rebounds, controlling both ends of the floor with purpose and poise. With this performance, she joins elite company Stephanie Mavunga and Bria Goss as one of the only women to ever put up 40 in a game at The City League.
Patty isn’t just making noise in the summer circuit — she’s already earned top honors at the collegiate level. After an incredible 2024-2025 season, Patty was named Team MVP at the University of Indianapolis — a reflection of her impact, consistency, and leadership.
With an MVP season under her belt and an offseason fueled by focused training at Elevate Three, she’s poised to make her senior campaign her most dominant yet.

Humble Beginnings
Patty’s basketball journey began like many others—with a dream. But what separated her from the rest was how she chose to pursue it.
At a young age, Patty committed to training under the “I’m Possible” Methodology, a unique and demanding skills development system created by world-renowned trainer Micah Lancaster. Through this system, Patty didn’t just train harder—she trained smarter, pushing herself through precise, technique-driven workouts designed to simulate in-game pressure and force decision-making under fatigue.
Over the course of 7 to 8 years, she refined her footwork, ball handling, shot creation, and mental toughness—all of which would become essential tools later in her college career.
That dedication and consistent training at Elevate Three Basketball Training (E3BT)—an I’M Possible Skill Lab in Carmel, Indiana, helped shape her game. E3BT provided the family-centric environment, leadership training, and positive reinforcement that got Patty to where she is today.
At E3BT, Patty spent countless early mornings and late nights. The gym lights often stayed on long after most had gone home. Every rep, every missed shot, every drop of sweat laid the foundation for something greater. It wasn’t just about making varsity or earning a college scholarship—it was about becoming the best version of herself, day after day.
Not Getting Recruited
When Patty first arrived at UIndy, the odds were stacked against her. The program didn’t accept walk-ons, and Patty wasn’t recruited. But she wasn’t going to let that stop her. She joined the team in a support role as a manager where she handled gear, water, and logistics for practices and games. Behind the scenes, she kept training. She stayed sharp through every E3BT session, always prepared in case the opportunity came knocking and eventually, it did.
Recognizing her talent, work ethic, and basketball IQ, the coaching staff gave her a shot. That spark became a fire. Patty went from helping out on the sidelines to stepping onto the court as a starter. She made the most of every minute, quickly proving she belonged—leading the team in key categories and playing with a chip on her shoulder and purpose in her step.
Patricia Chikamba delivered a remarkable performance during the 2024–2025 season with the University of Indianapolis women’s basketball team, transitioning from team manager to a starting player. Over 27 games, she averaged 16.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game, showcasing her scoring ability and defensive prowess. She achieved a field goal percentage of 42.2% and a free throw percentage of 69.2%, contributing significantly to her team’s success.
In the January 23, 2025, game against Drury, Patricia Chikamba delivered a career-defining performance for the University of Indianapolis women’s basketball team. She set a new career high with 33 points on 15-of-33 shooting, including 2-of-4 from three-point range, and added nine rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block in 37 minutes of play. This game marked a significant milestone in Chikamba’s season, showcasing her scoring ability and all-around contributions on both ends of the court. Her performance was instrumental in keeping the Greyhounds competitive in a closely contested matchup against Drury.
Throughout the season, Chikamba’s consistent performance and dedication were instrumental in the Greyhounds’ success, marking a significant milestone in her basketball journey.

What Sets Her Apart
What makes Patty’s journey remarkable isn’t just her rise—it’s what fueled it. It was the extra hours at E3BT, the mental reps in the offseason, the self-discipline when no one was watching. Her success is proof that elite-level training, when paired with an unwavering mindset, can elevate anyone beyond what they thought was possible.
She’s not just a player—she’s an example. A mentor. A coach in the making. She brings those same values to the younger athletes she now trains at E3BT, paying it forward by helping them see what’s possible through commitment and belief.
Looking Ahead
Patty Chikamba’s story isn’t over—it’s just getting started. As she continues to develop her game and lead by example, she’s leaving a lasting impact not only at UIndy but in gyms and training facilities all over Indiana.
Whether on the court, in the classroom, or at E3BT, Patty lives by the idea that success is earned—not given. And she’s proof that the journey, no matter how untraditional, is always worth it when you put your heart into it.
